Recently, the No.1 and No.2 rebar production lines in the bar and wire upgrade project at Yaxin  Steel, with participation by Beijing Bestpower Intercontrol Co., Ltd.(abbr. BPI) , successfully passed the first rolling runs. The hot billets smoothly traversed the rolling mills and reached the cooling bed, marking a key milestone and laying a solid foundation for full-scale commissioning.

Project Overview:

Yaxin Steel is a large integrated steel enterprise under Yaxin Steel Group, with an annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes of iron, steel, and finished products. Its main offerings—high-strength seismic rebar, high-speed rebar coils, and high-speed wire rods—are widely used in major national infrastructure projects.

This upgrade focuses on optimizing rolling capacity and moving toward higher-grade products. The existing No.1 and No.2 rebar lines, along with No.1 and No.2 high-speed wire rod lines and the water treatment system, are being comprehensively modernized to shift the product mix toward special steel grades. BPI undertook the full-scope services for this project, including engineering design, equipment manufacturing, installation, commissioning, technical guidance, and trial operation for the power distribution, drive, instrumentation, Level 1 automation, and water treatment electrical control systems.

Technical Highlights:

In terms of process, the lines employ thermomechanical rolling with controlled cooling. For standard construction steel, this enables optimized chemical compositions—eliminating V, Nb, Ti and reducing Mn content—significantly lowering production costs, while still capable of stably producing high-strength seismic grades such as HRB500(E) and HRBF500(E).

The main drives use DC drive systems, known for mature technology and stable operation. The rolling lines are managed by BPI's self-developed intelligent control system, which delivers comprehensive functionality, high product quality, short commissioning cycles, and rapid ramp-up, reaching internationally advanced standards. The system enables full-process tracking and intelligent control from billet feeding to bundle collection, featuring over a dozen advanced functions including rolling schedule storage and selection, cooling system control, mill speed interlocking, micro-tension control, automatic looper control, flying shear head cropping and cobble cutting, alarm handling for utilities and mechanical faults, and gap-free rolling.
